Tyler J. Smith

Tyler has focused his career on helping municipalities and private sector clients navigate federal and state regulatory mazes so clients can focus on what matters most to them. As a member of the firm’s Election Law practice group, Tyler works with a variety of governmental bodies and candidates on matters ranging from ballot access to administering elections. Tyler also has experience in federal and state campaign finance and lobbying disclosure compliance. Additionally, Tyler advises clients on issues such as complying with federal and state labor and employment laws, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency rules and regulations, and enforcing local zoning ordinances. Tyler is also a frequent contributor to the firm’s Municipal Minute and Workplace Report blogs.

Before joining Ancel Glink, Tyler served as a law clerk for the Wisconsin Elections Commission; as a law clerk for the Illinois Commerce Commission; and as a Policy Analyst for Dentons US LLP. Tyler earned his B.S. from Indiana University Bloomington and graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School. While at Marquette Law School, Tyler served as an articles editor on the Marquette Law Review Journal and was a member of the Dean’s List.
